The biggest update yet to how you scan and track prices. The scanner is now a fast floating overlay, Receipt History and the Spending Dashboard are free, and price tracking is smarter with trends and nudges.

New features

  • The scanner is now a floating overlay that slides up over your list, with live step-by-step progress (captured, detecting, reading, processing, ready) instead of a full-screen page.
  • A prominent "Scan Price / Receipt" button in your grocery list makes the scanner impossible to miss.
  • Receipt History and the Spending Dashboard are now free. Pro now gates advanced power features - unlimited receipt scans, spending insights & breakdowns, rebuilding lists from receipts, and price intelligence - instead of basic access.
  • Price history now shows trend arrows on each product: green down when the price dropped, red up when it rose.
  • The product price screen shows how the current price compares to last time ("% cheaper / more expensive") and nudges you to re-scan when a price goes stale.
  • New quick actions on the product screen: "Scan Shelf Tag" to capture today's price and "Add to List" to save the product to any of your grocery lists.
  • The Spending Dashboard now has a floating "Scan Receipt" button and loads faster - real-time data streams only while you're looking at it.

Fixes & improvements

  • Fixed ads: no more stuck spinner on the home screen for new users, and the native/banner ad race is resolved with a reliable fallback.
  • Fixed the persistent "Error loading receipts" state - you now get a clear message and a Retry button.
  • Fixed the Pro lock overlay overflowing short cards on the Spending Dashboard.
  • Fixed upsell taps - the /premium paywall route now opens correctly.
  • Pro paywall benefits updated to match what's actually gated.
  • Admin dashboard loads instantly with parallel data fetching, a complete activity feed, and working rating-prompt stats.

Under the hood

  • Upgraded the Android toolchain and AdMob SDK (google_mobile_ads 9.x).
  • Receipt uploads are compressed (1280px, JPEG quality 80) to reduce storage and data usage.
  • New analytics for scanner, price-history, and add-to-list actions so we can keep improving the product.

Fixes & improvements

  • The app no longer shows ads on the home screen after upgrading to Pro - this was a caching issue where the ad decision wasn't re-evaluated when your subscription status changed.
  • Cleaner home screen: Receipt History, Spending Dashboard, and Settings now live behind a "..." menu so the app title stands out better.
  • The admin analytics panel now tracks Spending Dashboard usage alongside Nearby Deals, Receipt Scanner, Receipt History, and Price Insights, and "Recalculate Analytics" computes adoption, retention, and conversion live from daily counters.
  • 51 new tests, and analytics now work in debug builds too so feature usage data populates the admin dashboard during testing.
